Trouble-shooting
I diagnose and fix both hardware and software problems with desktop PCs and software problems with laptops. I usually prefer to do this in my workshop where I have a lot of equipment and can easily watch the machine runnning diagnostic programs for extended periods of time if necessary.
I charge £25 for a call-out and the first half-hour of diagnosis and repair and then £20 per hour for further work on your premises. If you bring the problem to me I charge nothing to take a look at your machine and then £15 per hour.
After I have worked out what is wrong, I will give you a quote for the work and ask if you want me to proceed. This quote will be fixed and there will never be any "hidden extras".
Simple Fixes
Sometimes customers know what is wrong with their PC and just need somebody to replace a specific part. I charge a lot less for that than I do for trouble-shooting, regardless of whether it is done "in shop" or at your premises. It is a much more straightforward job because it is essentially the same as a simple upgrade. To fit or replace components such as RAM, a DVD drive or a hard drive I charge a flat-rate of £20 for call-out or £10 for an in-shop job. This does not include re-installing Windows if it is the system drive. Please look at Other Services for more details.
